About us

Havering Museum is on part of the site of the old Romford Brewery. It provides a home for exhibits of Havering's past. The Museum defines what makes Havering Havering, celebrating the achievements of local people past and present. The museum came about because of the hard work and determination of local people. In 2008 in partnership with the London Borough of Havering the project received a Heritage Lottery Fund grant. The museum opened in May 2010. The museum is all on ground floor level with the reception and shop area at the main entrance. There are two permanent galleries which explore the local history through different themes. The display have been designed so the showcases and graphics are easily viewable by everyone with everything on one level for easy access by wheelchairs. There is a temporary exhibition gallery and a learning space both available for schools and community groups to use. There are special events for all ages.
