My Favourite Object

Chosen by Ben Oliver.

Ben Oliver volunteered at Havering Museum over the summer. He was asked to choose his favourite Museum object. This is what he chose:

"The famed Coat of Arms from the City of Bulawayo is an artefact which personally I like because it has a symbol and the colours are divine. What the coat symbolises is unity and honour. I believe that it symbolises unity because the City of Bulawayo is showing its appreciation to Britain for the Olympics and for making them feel welcome.

Also, I like the design of the coat. The three animals that I believe to be lion cubs have been drawn to perfection and with carefulness. The variety of colours that have been chosen are mainly bright which shows that the coat is a symbol of light.

In conclusion, I like the coat of arms from the City of Bulawayo because of the design, but most importantly of all it symbolises unity".

The Coat of Arms from the City of Bulawayo is on display in the Hornchurch pod in the main gallery.
