    The public galleries are closed on Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays & Tuesdays.
    We may be open at other times for talks, events,  room bookings and private hire.

    From Cat's Whiskers to Caroline (a brief history of popular radio)

    This talk traces the interesting history of popular radio from the pioneering days of Marconi’s first broadcasts from Writtle, near Chelmsford and the early British Broadcasting Company station 2LO to the creation of the BBC as we know it. It will also feature pirate radio stations of 1960s.
