Advent Day 15 – Jubilee Pearly mug, 1977

In the run up to Christmas we’ll show some of the objects added to the Museum’s collection in the last 12 months. These objects will be on display at the Museum until we close for Christmas on 16th December.

This mug commemorates the Queen’s Silver Jubilee, depicting Pearly Kings and Queens and their children. Amongst their number would have been Peter and Margaret Caulfield who represented Romford. Peter’s brother Kenny was Pearly King of Harold Hill and their father was Pearly King of Somers Town, north-west London. Peter and Kenny, however, were born in Romford and assumed their titles when Havering became a London Borough in 1965.

Hi , I have two of the original Pearl Binder mugs which I’d like to sell. I have the box for one of them also. Is this something that would be of interest to yourselves?

    Kind regards,
    Mrs Chadwick

Hi Elizabeth, Thanks for the offer, I’ll pass it on to our Collection Team but as we already have one in our collection it’s unlikely they will want another one.

      Regards
      Pete Johnson
