Havering Libraries’ Local Studies Library is open by appointment only.

Havering Libraries’ Local Studies Library is open by appointment only.

Please contact LocalStudies@havering.gov.uk with details of your enquiries and to agree an appointment time.  Please allow two working days to enable time to prepare items for you to consult.

Our catalogue is available online https://llc.ent.sirsidynix.net.uk/client/en_GB/havering If you find a particular item you wish to view, please include the reference number in any communication. Most images in our collection are accessible online, through our catalogue.

“Libraries will have revised opening hours, with plans to return to normal hours as the government roadmap continues. Returning safely to libraries will continue to mean some changes in how libraries operate. Limiting numbers and social distancing will be in place and library staff have been provided with personal protective equipment to ensure their safety.”

As all items in the Local Studies Library are reference only, there will be a requirement to wear disposable gloves (provided) when handling some items.

There are limits on the number of people who can be accommodated at any one time and the times when appointments are available.

In this initial stage we regret that One-to-One family history appointments and open access browsing are not possible.

All other library building safety measures also apply, please familiarise yourself with these, below, before your visit

Library users will be asked for their contact details to support NHS Test and Trace and will need to keep 2m apart for social distancing, follow the one-way systems in place and to use hand sanitisers which are in every library.

Library users are also asked to wear face coverings in line with government advice.

Best wishes

Simon Donoghue

Local History Librarian
