MRS PAMELA WILKES – 6th March 1934 – 27th December 2022 – RIP

It is with deep regret we announce the sad passing of Mrs Pamela Wilkes, one of Havering Museum’s founder-members, long-serving Director and Company Secretary.

Mrs Wilkes was also a founder-member and Director of the Friends of Havering Museum. Together they worked tirelessly to support the Museum in many ways, including financing the purchase of IT equipment such as TV screens and monitors.

Pamela was well-known for her work in Havering and one of her proudest moments as Chair of HAVCO  was meeting HM The Queen in March 2003 during her visit to Romford.

She was married to former Councillor and Publisher, Ian, for over 50 years until he died in September 2015.  Mr Wilkes was also a founder-member and Chair of the Museum.

They had four sons, Nicholas, Christopher, Jeremy and Matthew and three grandsons.

Pamela continued her work with the Museum and Friends Of The Museum and regularly attended Board Meetings and Committee Meetings.

Pamela will be greatly missed by all who knew her, especially for her knowledge, expertise , sense of humour and determination to retain her strong association with the Museum and the people involved.

Thanks, Pamela!
