PC Watt’s Memorial Plaque unveiled

PC Joseph Watt, who suffered serious injury on 27th August, 1913, while stopping a runaway horse pulling a four-wheeled van in the High Street, Romford has been commemorated with a plaque in his honour outside Havering Museum.

Sadly, Constable Watt, who was serving with the Essex Police, later died of his injuries.

Members of his family, including great-grandchildren, were joined by Romford MP, Andrew Rosindell, the Mayor of Havering, Councillor Michael Dean Burton and the Chief Constable of Essex, BJ Harrington, at the recent unveiling ceremony.
