Summer at Havering Museum

Over the past few weeks Havering Museum has welcomed many new families to our Summer Family Fun activities. It kicked off in style with an Archaeology Fun Afternoon on Thursday 28 July. Our young visitors learnt what life would be like as an archaeologist through developing their enquiry skills to discover more about Havering Museum’s handling artefacts. The activity leader, Jerry Cummings, was convinced that we discovered the next Indiana Jones in this session.

This activity was swiftly followed by a successful repeat of Project E’s Victorian Adventure, where for the second time this year they displayed their knowledge of Victorian Havering.

We were also delighted to welcome Mr and Mrs Scott back to Havering Museum for another World War Two Day. Havering Museum’s visitors were fascinated by the knowledge and memorabilia Mr and Mrs Scott have collected about World War Two. There was even a visit from Winston Churchill!

Coming up next week are: The Classic Ancients, your opportunity to learn about the fascinating Romans and Egyptians, on Thursday 18 August; and our activity afternoon Tremendous Tudors on Friday 19 August.

And, finally a treat for our youngest visitors with our unique interpretation of a Teddy Bears’ Picnic on Wednesday 24 August. Bring along your family’s oldest and newest Teddy Bears to the last session of our Summer Programme.

(Pre-booking is required for The Classic Ancients and the Teddy Bears’ Picnic).

We look forward to seeing you all there!
