For the second year running David Belbin of Accountants Clemence Hoar Cummings has sponsored Havering Museum’s Variety Club.  The Variety Club has been running for nearly five years and is designed to provide activities for the over 50’s of the borough.  This is a fun-loving group and provides an opportunity for people to make new friends, learn new skills, listen to talks and also contribute their own memories to enhance local heritage knowledge.

The Museum is self-funding and has to raise funds through grants, donations, admissions and sponsorship from local businesses.  Ellen Owen, Director of Havering Museum, said: “It is wonderful that David’s company has yet again decided to support our Variety Club.  The club has changed the lives of many of the people who attend and widened their circle of Friends.   Recently, David met the Wednesday group and knows that his support means a lot to the people attending.  Clemence Hoar Cumming’s support allows the Museum to continue to offer the club activities for free.  Without the support of companies like David’s the Museum would not be able to offer as many events to people.  The Museum motto is “More than a Museum”  as we care a great deal about people.  Local businesses today realise that they can put something back into the community by supporting the Museum and its work with different groups.  The Museum’s volunteers are passionate about sharing our heritage and wish to preserve it for your next generation.   So a big thank you to David and Clemence Hoar Cummings from the Museum and the Variety Club.  One lady said: “He is such a nice man to be supporting us and he really cares.”
